Your Happy Place

Close your eyes and go to your happy place. [harp music] No, not, not. [beep] Panic attack is scary and it can seem very hard to regain control. Here are some tips for you to manage them better. Number one, diaphragmatic breathing. Imagine there’s a balloon in your belly, and as you inhale, that balloon is inflating, and as you exhale, that balloon is deflating. By channeling the air all the way into your belly, you’re slowing your breath down, calming your body in the process. Number two, progressive muscle relaxation. By tensing and relaxing the different parts of your body, you’re able to regain control and realize that even during panic attacks, you are able to relax your body. Number three, visualization. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a place that makes you feel calm and at peace. By doing so, you allow yourself to recognize that you can be safe wherever you might be.
